we shot the shoot below in an empty field near the airport. a lady poked her head over the back fence and asked us what we were doing and watched us for a little bit. i think she thought we were up to no good :)

makeup training #1 - defined eye

my first go at recreating a pixiwoo tutorial...check it out at:
http://www.youtube.com/pixiwoo#p/u/166/l4nidDH6bHg
http://www.youtube.com/pixiwoo#p/u/163/WGidWMWSDrE
(the tutorial is in two parts)

i use my own brush roll which is a mixture of brushes bought at the vic uni student shop, IMATS in sydney, and priceline pharmacy.

the products that i use are whatever i have in my kit that is similar to what the pixiwoo girls use. hopefully down the track when i have some more cash i'll be able to afford to buy the products that they use.

samantha's product list:
chanel mat lumiere foundation
MAC shroom and graphology e/s
MAC kohl eyeliner pencil in blooz
bobbi brown longwear gel eyeliner in black
l'oreal voluminous mascara
MAC mystery and omega e/s for brows

kryolan wet/dry cake eyeliner
l'oreal telescopic mascara
i didn't use anything on brows 'cos as you can see i don't really need it!
graftobian cream foundations for concealer
limecrime pigment in shoe addict

here's what samantha's looks like...

and here's how mine turned out...

i found this look to be relatively easy to do and simple enough that i could wear it out to a makeup job i had that evening and also to drinks with friend after that. by the time i got home though, the e/s had creased a little and the kohl eyeliner on the lower waterline had worn off. a result of the warm weather perhaps?

here's a mini photo shoot of the makeup in our backyard. i put on a little masquerade translucent powder and she lip gloss in raspberry for the shoot.
all photography by danny cisco.

welcome to pixiwoo makeup training

pixiwoo is the online name describing the awesome english makeup artist sister duo that is samantha and nicola. they have a popular youtube channel where they upload amazingly helpful how-to video tutorials on makeup, hair, skin care and tips on becoming a makeup artist. i absolutely love their work and since i can't afford to fly to london to do their makeup course i thought i'd undertake my own pixiwoo training here in melbourne...
